Our vision
To make feeling seen, heard, supported, and safe. Not a privilege. A global standard in women's health.
No matter your race, circumstance, or income.
Why we built it
The technology to predict risk already existed. Nobody had built the thing that acts on it.
Prediction was never the hard part. Reaching a woman on a Tuesday night, in the weeks between appointments, and turning what she says into something a real person does next: that was the part nobody had built.
So we built that layer first, and put the agents on top of it.
"I am a technologist. I watched the women who raised me get failed by reactive care. The technology to predict risk already existed. No one had built the infrastructure to act on it. So we did."
Where the name comes from
We named the company after a niece.
Alúa was born into a system that had just told her mother her pain did not count. The company carries her name so that it never stops being personal.
"MyLÚA was built to uplift mothers who too often feel discarded and silenced by our healthcare system. Watching my sister be denied pain medication during labor opened our eyes to what disparities in maternal care really cost. We named this company after my niece, Alúa. We build so care reflects the lived experiences and voices of the people it is meant to serve."
Why we started here
The hardest place in medicine, on purpose.
More than three times. The rate at which Black women in the United States die from pregnancy-related causes, compared with white women. More than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable.
Maternal mortality was 44.8 deaths per 100,000 live births for Black (non-Hispanic) women in 2024, compared with 14.2 for White (non-Hispanic) women. Source: CDC, National Center for Health Statistics. On preventability, see CDC, Preventing Pregnancy-Related Deaths.
Maternal care is where the disparities are worst and where care between the visits matters most. Prove it here and it holds everywhere else in women's health.
"Women have never had more reason to ask where their health data goes. We built trust into the architecture, not into a promise. And we earned that trust in the hardest place in medicine first, so it holds everywhere we go next."
Community
We don't build this at a distance from the people it's for.
MyLÚA was built to reflect the realities of communities too often overlooked, by founders with lived experience advocating for voices that have been silenced.
The product gets shaped in the open, by the doulas who use it every day and the mothers they serve. Our first paid pilot runs with Metro Mommy Agency, a growing doula network, on its own branded version of the app. Their feedback ships.
"I don't put my name on things I don't vet. I give feedback in real time, and they change it to exactly what I said. That is very rare."
